Listeria Sense

Our real-time bacteria detection sensors assess water quality by continuously monitoring for Listeria and other harmful pathogens

About Us

Listeria Sense uses real-time qPCR technology, autonomous water sampling, and cloud-based encryption to bring unparalleled speed to Listeria detection.

Our qPCR-based bacteria detection systems autonomously sample any water source to identify distinct strains of Listeria in under 60 minutes. Our rapid detection sensors continuously monitor the water for Listeria, sending quantitative data to a secure cloud-based dashboard in real-time.

Our state-of-the-art sensors are able to detect distinct species of Listeria, including Listeria monocytogenes, which causes human listeriosis.

Applications

Listeria monocytogenes can cause deadly infections after eating contaminated food or beverages, commonly meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, and vegetables. Most people infected with Listeria require hospital care, as listeriosis easily spreads beyond the gut, affecting other parts of the body. Listeriosis is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, as the infection can spread to the fetus through the placenta, often leading to miscarriage or stillbirth.

Our rapid Listeria sensors continuously monitor for Listeria monocytogenes, differentiating between this pathogenic strain and other harmless strains of Listeria to provide meaningful water contamination data.

Food and beverage processing

Continuously monitor water along food processing lines to prevent product recalls and foodborne disease outbreaks.

Agriculture

Autonomously detect Listeria contamination in irrigation water before it has been used on any crops.

Fishing and aquaculture

Collect real-time water quality information to sustain food safety in aquacultural farms and prevent production delays.

Wastewater monitoring and biosurveillance

Monitoring wastewater for Listeria can provide an outlook on local contamination within communities, allowing rapid identification of disease outbreaks for public health and safety.

Beaches, rivers, reservoirs, and more

Conduct real-time Listeria testing to keep our beaches, rivers, and reservoirs safe from harmful bacteria.

Pharmaceutical bioprocessing

Continuously monitor for Listeria before contamination can spread, avoiding substantial product loss.
